In case anyone is still interested – there was a new, recent eruption on Mt. St. Helens a little over a week ago . Unfortunately, the mountain was socked in by weather so nobody could see it. Just the after-affects and seismicity readings. The new dome continues to grow -- but at a slower rate than it had been. Scientists are saying the new dome is now about as tall as the U.S. Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland. In pure volume, it's as big as 134 Rose Garden Arena's.
This story ahs a great graphic that outlines the new growth. At this rate, the old crater might very well fill up again within my lifetime. Now that's amazing! I’ve put up a link to the volcanocam in the “landings” section of the blog if anyone is interested in seeing what she’s up to now.
